Dismantling Two Bonus B450 Nacelles from a Decommissioned Turbine Site in Germany ♻ Today, we have an interesting project to tell you all about: The acquisition and dismantling of two second-hand Bonus B450 nacelles from Germany. The plan is to dismantle and refurbish all the main components and spare parts from the nacelle. This way, we’ll be able to use the components in our current Bonus projects, but also utilize the main components in future Bonus refurbishments. Let’s break the project down! 🛠 The project began in Germany, where the two Bonus B450 nacelles were originally slated for the scrapyard. The nacelles had operated many years on a German turbine site that was decommissioned in order to prepare for repowering activities. Recognizing their untapped potential, we seized the opportunity to give the main components another chance. We acquired both nacelles for our workshop in Herning, Denmark, and the nacelles arrived just a few hours ago! 🚚 Over the coming weeks, we’ll be disassembling the nacelles into their main components, such as the generator, gearbox, main shaft, yaw plate etc. Each component will be carefully examined, cataloged, and prepared for a complete refurbishment. The refurbishment will include the addition of new and high-quality bearings, bushings, sealings, lubrications and more. All sourced from top notch spare parts suppliers. Our overall aim is to have as few components and spare parts go to waste as possible, while still ensuring compatability with future projects. With our WindTech technicians at the helm, we’ll breathe new life into these components. Each component will of course undergo rigorous testing to ensure they meet our standards for high quality and reliability. These nacelles, once destined for the scrapyard, will instead emerge as good-as-new main components and spare parts, ready for use in future refurbished wind turbines. Whether these main components are used in refurbishments, as replacement components, or simply sold individually, they’ll be sure to provide a lot of value moving forward. Stay tuned for more updates on the B450 nacelle refurbishments. We’ll be looking forward to sharing the results with you all! 👍 #WindTurbine #Wind #WindTech #WindEnergy #RenewableEnergy
Great turbine..... assembled a few of those in the good old days
Hm, normally the bonus units installed in Germany had an sticker saying "AN Bonus". I have them installed some years ago. However it was a great and robust design and we celebrated every new installed turbine. The good old times in wind. Cheers Udo
Very reliable machine, erected/commissioned and serviced several of these! Yaw brake shoes were a nightmare at times! No cranes back then -all winched up on the A frame and manually installed.
Out of curiosity, how do you determine/evaluate the remaining fatigue life in reused components, e.g gear wheels, pinions, shafts, housing, etc?
Amazing what I have bought of parts for the next generation of this turbine, the 600KW MKIV... 😊
There great turbines, worked on them in midwales for a few years, they just keep on working
looks good - a great sustainability effort. I trust they were installed around 1993 - 1995?
Wow. This is really back to good old days. No dd problems.
I remember those in 2005yr by Abeline sweetwater/ san angelo
