Methane is a gas with 84-86 times greater impact on global warming than CO2 in a 20-year time frame and it has contributed to approx. 30% of global warming to date 🤯 Methane is also a primary contributor to fugitive emissions, which are leaks of gasses from equipment, pipelines, or storage tanks during the production, processing, or transportation of oil, gas, and other hydrocarbons. These leaks can occur at any stage of the oil and gas supply chain and amount to ~4% of global GHG emissions. In Europe, new regulation is on its way, forcing oil and gas companies to report on their fugitive emissions on a regular and granular basis to avoid hefty fines❗ However Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) is still conducted in a manual, offline and decentralized manner.
