I currently work as an independent development aid consultant. I've worked in countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Botswana, Cambodia, China, Ethiopia, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kenya, Kosovo, Liberia, Mauritius, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan (& Darfur), Syria, Thailand, Uganda, and Vietnam. I advise governments on peace and stabilisation, education, child labor, community development, capacity building, vocational training, and institutional strengthening. Mostly I evaluate projects and programs for AusAID, the European Commission, USAID, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the United Nations, and the American government.

My writing has emerged from my international work, gaining inspiration from countries, people, cultures, and ideologies. My novels, The Sudan Curse (2009), Kashmir on a Knife-Edge (2010), and Liberia's Deadest Ends (2012) are fictional accounts of my work in these countries. They highlight humanitarian themes interlaced between political, historical, and cultural information.

A Practical and Inspiring Guide to Innovation

A Practical and Inspiring Guide to Innovation
I didn’t expect a book about constraints to feel so encouraging, but Innovation Within Constraints really delivers. It’s not just about thinking outside the box—it’s about working with the box you have and still creating something new. What I loved most is how practical this book is. It’s not full of vague motivational advice; instead, it offers real strategies, case studies, and exercises to help you take whatever challenges you’re facing—whether it’s limited resources, tight deadlines, or structural barriers—and turn them into advantages. There are great examples, from NASA’s Apollo 13 mission to innovative approaches in business and social change, all showing how the right mindset can turn obstacles into opportunities. One thing that really stuck with me was how it explores the psychology of innovation—how fear of failure and rigid thinking hold people back, and how shifting perspective can make a huge difference. The exercises are simple but effective, making it easy to apply these ideas in real life. This book would be great for entrepreneurs, creatives, or anyone working in environments where they have to do more with less. It doesn’t overcomplicate things but gives you a fresh way to think about limitations. If you’ve ever felt stuck because you don’t have enough time, money, or resources, this book is a solid, no-nonsense guide to making things happen anyway.

Perfect for anyone who works in startups, nonprofits, education, healthcare, or any profession where being resourceful matters. The steps are easy and accessible. These practices work across every workplace scenario, including task optimization and team idea development and slow-moving bureaucracy. Building significant colorful achievements is not the key objective here. It's less about making the big, dramatic decisions, but more about the little, intentional ones, the everyday decisions that gradually begin to change the way you work and think. Even if you tend to be the type who gets bogged down in the process or gets creatively depleted from too many rules, the direction here makes it easier. It makes you stop waiting around for permission or ideal timing. Rather, you start doing what's within grasp at the moment, not sometime.

It's another HOW TO book with lists and bullet points but nothing much on the author's own experience nor specific ideas that you could put into action!

This book delivers exactly what it promises—practical, actionable insights on innovation within constraints. I was impressed by how many case studies are included, all presented in a concise yet impactful way. While studying for my MBA in Innovation Management, I’ve come across many resources, but this one stands out for its clarity and depth. It’s not just theory—it’s a collection of real examples that prove innovation thrives even with limited resources. A must-read for anyone serious about problem-solving and creative thinking!
